The former heating center and the coal silo of the Sulzer and Burckhardt factory in Basel has been redeveloped by Insitu, Solvatec and Antec into a sustainable multipurpose building and now offers space for a practice, an office and two conference rooms in addition to a school. Kromatix™ blue-green, brass, orange, blue and gray paired with monocrystalline PV modules were used on the roof as well as on the south and north facades. The 159 square meter solar walls and roof generate approximately 16,400 kWh annually. This covers around 40% of the building’s total energy needs.
